quote of however-long-I-feel-like:

Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars.

Suppose we have.

Then all I can say is that, in any case, the made - up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones.

The Sword In the Stone

By T. H. White

Ultra-Condensed by Sean Worle and Samuel Stoddard

Merlyn

Wart, I will teach you about life by turning you into all kinds of animals.

Wart

Neat. Now I can single-handedly invent civilization.

(Wart pulls a SWORD from a STONE. Everybody thinks he should be KING because they are SUPERSTITIOUS.)

R: Reyna

Dear Reyna,

Last week I was texting while walking home. It was quite a humorous conversation, and Calvin can be very entertaining. However, a stupid tree decided to block my path and run into me. The idiot. So after my face made the abrupt acquaintance of said tree, I hurried on my way. The next day I had a second run-in with the same tree, but departed by giving him a nice, firm kick.

So, last night I went upstairs in the complete dark looking for my computer charger. I remembered having left it by the kitchen table. Not wanting to wake up the kids, I left the lights off. I felt around with my foot in the dark. Having located my charger, I bent down to pick it up. Instead of reaching my goal, I encountered a loud BANG and a bright flash of white light. Immediately I put my hands to the source of screaming pain and feel a sort of dampness. I run to the light switch, flip it on, and find my hands covered in tears and blood. Wonderful. Turns out a wooden chair had jumped out from under the table and bit my eye. I couldn't see out of it for an hour. Thought I was blind. For reals. Stupid karma for kicking that tree.

Also, just now, I forgot that I had a nice gash on my eyelid, had an itch, and mindlessly brought back the sharp pain.

Basically, I'm an idiot.

Wonder what my walk home from school looks like? I love it.

Nice little temple/Provo view.

Have I ever told you that I love clouds?

Oh look! Berries!

Pretty pretty.

Bam. (Still isn't a very pretty temple though.)

F: Found.

a new blog. I love it, her, her hair, her ambition, her writing, her thoughts and insights, and how they make me think. Basically, she is incredible.

My favorite entry:

How do I capture the mood that I am in, standing here on this epic front lawn that overlooks the city of Jerusalem? I am a painter looking out with a brush and palette wondering where I begin. The sun is falling closer to the horizon making the shadows long--it's colder than it could be, and in the way of the moon only one side of the Dome reflects the sun's light. The other side is completely dark.

I am a part of the scenery, this is how I feel.

I have come to know the corridors of the Old City flanked with carpets and beads. I've come to know the people there--the fantastic people there and the rough people there and the ones that simply pretend you're not there. I've sat and talked with friends on Ben Yehuda with gelato in hand and been spat on at Mea Shearem. I have favorite churches and stores and merchants; I am a part of this city. A very small thread, especially compared to say, David or Solomon or Constantine, but one still, and only because I met the people, had dinner with the people, laughed very hard and danced with the people, and sat and cried with the people and all within their homes where they welcomed me.

Jerusalem is not a city that will let itself be owned by anyone; it's always resisted being reduced to property and has always repelled those who started thinking it was something that belonged to them. No, the most one can hope for is to belong to Jeruslaem.
